Snow

Some of you may know that we got a little snow a couple weeks back. By little I mean TWO FEET. By a couple weeks back, I mean I am finally able to talk about the traumatizing experience that was the snow.

Here is my problem with snow. I am stuck. I can not go anywhere. I do not like that feeling. It makes me start to panic. Literally panic. Heart pounding, shaking, sweating, need to leave RIGHT NOW OR I MAY DIE panic. In all reality I do not need nor want to go anywhere, but I would like to have the option of doing something, anything, if I choose to do so. I like having the option of waking in the morning and thinking "I want to get an Ice Tea from Chick-Fil-A." (Is there any other place on earth to get Ice Tea? I think not. They have cornered the market on Ice Tea.) But with snow, you do not have that option. You are stuck in your house for-ev-er.

We are lucky that we live in the section of the neighborhood we do. We are not plowed by the county. We have private plowing, and usually they are in and out almost immediately after the snow stops. Sometimes they even make it in halfway through the snow. You would think this helps. But you think wrong. Why? Because this year it has been me by myself to shovel the driveway. It is hard to shovel an entire driveway when you can only do it while Jackson is sleeping. His sleeping gave me about an hour and half at a time to shovel. This would be plenty of time, if there had not been TWO FEET OF SNOW. That is a whole lot of snow.

Now. If I can get the driveway cleared, and I am one of those people who want the whole thing clear not just space for the car, and the roads in the neighborhood have been plowed then I am probably still out of luck. Why? Because who knows if the secondary roads are passable. By this time they may have had a once over. This is a BIG may. The county could care less about secondary roads, and really I understand why. Our main roads are the interstate and they get a lot of use. So I understand that they want to have those completely clear before they start on secondary and neighborhood roads.

Why all the complaining and hatred for snow? I LIVE IN NOVA! NORTHERN VIRGINIA! WE DON'T GET SNOW HERE! If we do it is a dusting to a couple inches. Those couple inches, you can still drive over. You can not drive over TWO FEET OF SNOW.

I am hoping with all my might that there is no more snow coming. I am ready for spring. I am ready to let Jackson play in the cul-de-sac with the kiddos on the street. I am ready for longer days, so that after dinner we can take the boys for an evening walk and Jackson will not freeze to death. I am ready to buy pretty flowers. I am ready for color!

The best part of the snow, this little face taking in all the magic.

The hat was from Auntie Andrea. It was his Christmas present. He's going to be able to wear it for awhile! And when it starts to get small I'm going to squeeze his head in it, I love it that much. He gets compliments on it all the time.

It fit on my head so it should last a long time. Let me know when he finally pulls the pom pom off and I'll fix it :)
