The First 3 Days ...

are behind me. It was unexpectedly okay, to be at work. A lot of the time I was getting caught up on what had happened while I was out. While I was doing this I wasn't really thinking about what could be happening at home. That being said, when I wasn't busy I was constantly wondering what Jackson was doing and worrying about if he was okay.

I am glad that I only went back for part of the week, it made the whole return bearable. Next week will be hard, I am not looking forward to a whole 5 days being away from Jackson. But there is nothing that I can do to change it ... except win the lottery. Dear lottery gods, please let me win ... sincerely Ashley. Do you think that will work?

I have heard from the caretaker (I need a name for her ... grandma is so predictable) that Jackson is taking little naps during the day, he had started this before I went back to work. For a couple days he was doing well with naps in the morning then up for a big chunk of time and then back to napping in the afternoon. How do we start getting him on a schedule? The ideal thing would be for him to take to big naps, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, instead of the teeny random naps that he likes now. I can only say I am grateful that this trend has not carried over into the night. He is doing very well with sleeping at night. He is going about 4 to 5 hours, it is usually about 4.5. (Well except for those nights that Craig is in charge ... he obviously loves his momma more.) I need to do some research on the internet and in books and obviously hear from the experts (hint hint Aunties!) to see how to do this schedule thing.

I think Jackson is taking cat naps as that allows his caregiver to do the same. Wait she is sewing not sleeping, right?

I think he's still a little young to be on a schedule. However, I think you can start adjusting some things to get him ready for a schedule... for example, if he's been awake for 1.5-2 hours, put him down for a nap (even if he seems awake). For bed, start a routine. This way, he starts to associate certain things with sleep. Eventually he should gravitate towards taking a nap around 9am and 1pm with a little cat nap around 5 and then bedtime around 7ish. When you get him up during the night now, it should be all business - no bright lights, no interaction (except for a kiss b/c that is just too hard not to do!!) -- just change him, feed him, and put him back down.

I am with Carey on this one - still too young for the 2 nap a day scene. Hunter gradually moved into that routine around 6 months or so. Then around 1 year was when he moved into the one nap a day scene.
