Plane Rides and Family

Well Jackson has had his first plane ride. Only a day after turning six months. We went to Florida this weekend. For Jackson and I, it was a vacation. For Craig, he had to go to Jacksonville for some work. The work was a roller coaster ride in and of itself. One hour he was working the next it was postponed. This went on from Friday until he walked on the ship Saturday. Fun times.

Now onto what I am sure you are all waiting with bated breath to hear about. The plane rides. Let's just say all in all Jackson is an excellent traveler! On the flight down, he slept the whole way. He woke when we had landed and were on our way to the gate. This I consider a success. There was no crying. No screaming. No nothing. Hurray! The people around us even commented that he was a good baby. I think it helped that he had only had a catnap in the car on the way to the airport and then he was overloaded with all that was going on around him in the airport.

The flight back was also a success. He was awake all the way up until we started our decent. He cried and fussed when the pressure changed, but that was all. He played looked around. And he even had a chance to flirt with the flight attendant. She thought he was a cutie. I was a lot more nervous that we would have the crying kid on the way home since Jackson decided he did not need to sleep. But I was happily surprised that he only cried at the times when he needed to 'pop' his ears. Trying to get a kid that is too distracted to suck on a bottle or a pacifier is a losing battle. We both tried unsuccessfully to get him to focus on the task at hand. Focus for a 6month old is im-poss-ible. Do not even attempt, the frustration alone is not worth the effort.

We had a good weekend visiting. We love going down to spend time with family even if it is short. Thanks for the hospitality and for throwing us a Sup.er Bo.wl party!

We'll Im glad that Jackson is a good flyer. We have been debating whether or not to fly out to come see you all. But we have decided to wait til Michael comes home from Iraq and then we are going to drive out in December or January. Since his mom lives 4 hours away. Well, I think flying with children could be an impossible tasks at times, so Im glad that Jackson did well!!
