I decided that while Craig was out of town I would do a simple home improvement project. Nothing where I would use power tools. I learned my lesson at the old house. Ashley and power tools do not mix. I tried a simple project of installing curtain rods. In my mind it was easy. Just slap 'em up on the walls and it would be great. Well the curtains above the sliding glass door ended up having around 7 or 8 holes in the wall. (I don't think I even patched my mess. I believe my thinking was along the lines of 'the curtains will cover those holes up!') The curtains on the front of the house was a whole different kind of mess. I think that I actually drilled a hole from the inside of the house to the siding. After that mistake I decided I should probably stop. Subsequently when Craig came home I don't think that he was to happy with my attempts to 'help'.
This project was much easier, and no power tools were needed. I went and got one of the many new lighting fixtures that we are planning to install. This first one is going in the breakfast area. I took down the old one, and installed the new one. With no help from anyone else, I might add. I am so excited to install the rest of the lighting. I am tired of living with brass fixtures. My goodness whoever thought that they looked good in homes was seriously mistaken. There are moments when I look at the lighting I feel I have been transported back in time. Brass lighting to me is very 1980's.
